Mississippi drivers ed guide
Mississippi families are living through a switchover. If a teen or adult will receive a first driver's license on or after July 1, 2027, Senate Bill 2695 says they must first complete a certified drivers ed program. Before that date, a teen gets there with a learner's permit held for one year and a parent's sworn affidavit covering 50 hours of driving instead of a road test. The state keeps no point system, and an eligible first ticket can usually be kept off the public record through a court approved traffic safety violator school.
