Alaska drivers ed guide
No Alaska driver, teen or adult, is required to take drivers ed. Teens may start on an instruction permit at 14, practice for at least 40 hours that a parent certifies, and qualify for a provisional license at 16. A defensive driver course can earn a point reduction once in any 12 month period, and Fairbanks has a city program that can dismiss the points on a qualifying city ticket.
